About half of marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation. Researches estimate that 41% of all first marriages end in divorce while 60% of second marriages and 73% of all third marriages end in divorce. The United States has the 6th highest divorce rate in the world. Every 13 seconds, there is one divorce in America which equates to 277 divorces per hour, 6,646 per day, 46,523 per week, and 2,419,196 divorces per year. This means that by the time a couple finish reciting their wedding vows (2 minutes) there has been 9 divorces already. The average first marriage that ends in divorce lasts about 8 years.
